" The contribution of the early years provision to the well-being of the children is outstanding." - Ofsted.
Not only are we graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in every area of the care and learning requirements, but we are also the only Day Nursery in the area to be awarded the Millie's Mark accreditation - a gold standard award for paediatric first aid.
Welcome
From the moment you enter the grounds of The Wendy House and drive past our lovely old willow trees you know that this is no ordinary Nursery. The peaceful setting, beautiful surroundings and sense of calm all help to give parents a feeling that this Nursery is rather special.
Set in 12 acres of beautiful private park and farm land, it would be hard to find a more natural setting for children. The building itself is a converted stable block and all the rooms are large with lots of natural light, making them bright and welcoming. It is situated just five minutes from the A1198 and just ten minutes from the town of Royston and is perfectly located for many commuter routes and the outlying villages.
Many things set The Wendy House apart from other local settings and we are proud to be unique. Not least with our very own allotment but also a Forest School, affectionately known as 'Wendy Wood', an amazing woodland camp just a few minutes from the Nursery building where children can climb, explore and learn about their surroundings and enjoy homemade soup around the campfire! Further to this, we also have an amazing Conservation Cabin – an outdoor classroom that all the children, regardless of age, can use to focus their activities on conservation and the natural environment. This area is also home to our nature maze and boardwalk observation platform. A truly wonderful area to develop our passion for outdoor learning.
Owners, Matt and Jacquie are on-site every day and their passion and commitment to The Wendy House is total. They are constantly looking at ways to improve and up-date to ensure that the children receive the highest standard of care and resources.
Matt has achieved Early Years Professional Status, a gold standard qualification, and uses the knowledge and skill developed over his 20 year career in Early Years to lead the staff in all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, child development and ensuring the children receive a first class learning experience both inside and out. Jacquie is responsible for staff training, developing in-depth programmes that ensure Practitioners receive the highest levels of support. Jacquie also focuses on business development, ensuring the Nursery continues to progress, building on its success and positive outcomes for the children.
The success and excellent reputation the Nursery enjoys is very much based on their attention to detail, individual care and their emphasis on outdoor learning. This philosophy also enables the Nursery to build strong relationships with parents - a key factor in the Nursery's overall package of care. They know that to be able to ensure a child's individual needs are being met, working with, and listening to, parents is vital. They welcome comments and feedback and their parent emailing system ensures that the Nursery keeps an on-going stream of information and open dialogue.
