" Practitioners recognise the uniqueness of each child. The excellent key person system enhances relationships with children and their families very effectively. Consequently, children develop a strong sense of security, which helps build their confidence." - Ofsted

Our Staff
Having highly qualified staff is vital in the Early Years sector and The Wendy House is proud that it leads the way in employing Early Years Professionals - a flagship qualification.
All our staff are thoroughly vetted, DBS-checked and paediatric first-aid trained.
Our Children Learn Through Play
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage as required by Ofsted and incorporate activities, both adult and child-led to facilitate each child's individual development throughout the Foundation Stage. The children develop a strong sense of themselves, the world they live in, as well as appreciating other cultures and societies. We understand and appreciate that each child is seen as an individual and, as such, we tailor all activities and the environment to meet each child's physical and emotional needs.
Outdoor Learning
Matt and Jacquie are passionate about the benefits of children learning and developing in a natural outdoor environment and with all the amazing space we have at our disposal, children at The Wendy House are very much outdoor learners. We have our very own Forest School, affectionately known as 'Wendy Wood', where we extend the children's outdoor learning opportunities even further through sensory exploration and understanding of the natural environment. We have an on-site allotment where we grow vegetables, fruit and herbs for the cook to use in the children's meals. All the children get involved in planting, watering and tending to the plants and then enjoy helping to pick what has grown.
Furthering our commitment to outdoor learning, we have introduced our very own Conservation Cabin that all the children, regardless of age, can use to embrace our natural ethos. We have developed a wonderful outdoor area that not only provides a base for the children to learn, but also enables them to explore the nature maze, making exciting discoveries along the way. Our boardwalk observation platform gives the children a much closer look at dragonflies, bees and butterflies as they fly around the long grass, reeds and wild flowers.
Our Meals
All of our meals are prepared and cooked fresh every day by our full-time, on-site cook, who uses top-quality ingredients, many grown in our allotment. We place huge importance on our 'family' meal times, which we see as an opportunity for everyone to be enjoying lovely food together. We cater to all dietary or religious requirements and as a setting are fully committed to producing healthy alternatives to sugar - you should try our petit pois muffins, they are delicious!
