" The contribution of the early years provision to the well-being of children is outstanding." - Ofsted
Not only are we graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in every area of the care and learning requirements, but we are also the only Day Nursery in the area to be awarded the Millie’s Mark accreditation - a gold standard award for paediatric first aid.
The Wendy House, Impington, Cambridge is situated amongst open countryside and it boasts a peaceful location with fantastic views. The West Barn is a converted stable block and is home to our Bluebells (ages 3-15 months) and boasts a seperate Bluebell sleep room as well as a sensory/soft play room that the whole Nursery can use. Nursery House is converted from the original farm house and is home to the children aged 15 months to 5 years. Registered for only 62 children, this is very much a home-from-home environment, a cosy place for children to feel happy and secure. The Nursery is situated just a few minutes from the A14 and A10 (J32/J33) between Cambridge and Ely in the village of Impington, so is perfectly located for many commuter routes.
A child's surroundings are important to them which is why both our Nurseries are set in lovely rural locations, surrounded by open fields, yet both easily accessible to main commuter routes. We took time searching for our premises and are confident that we have got it right. Both buildings are bright and airy with wonderful views overlooking open fields and feel homely and inviting.
Many things set The Wendy House apart from other local settings and we are proud to be unique. We have our very own Forest School, affectionately known as 'Wendy Wood', an amazing woodland camp just a few minutes from the Nursery building where children can climb, explore and learn about their surroundings and enjoy homemade soup around the campfire! Further to this, we also have an amazing Conservation Cabin – an outdoor classroom that all the children, regardless of age, can use to focus their activities on conservation and the natural environment. A truly wonderful area to develop our passion for outdoor learning.
The success and excellent reputation the Nursery enjoys is very much based on their attention to detail, individual care and their emphasis on outdoor learning. This philosophy also enables the Nursery to build strong relationships with parents - a key factor in the Nursery's overall package of care. They know that to be able to ensure a child's individual needs are being met, working with, and listening to, parents is vital. They welcome comments and feedback and their parent emailing system ensures that the Nursery keeps an on-going stream of information and open dialogue.
